KREISLERIANA
Music by the great Austrian master/master violinist, with a peek into the Library’s Fritz Kreisler Collection, and two new works from American composer Harold Meltzer. His sextet Brion, written for Cygnus, made several “best of 2010” lists; for this occasion he unveils Kreisleriana, a brand new work for violin and piano, commissioned by the Library’s McKim Fund. His poignantly nostalgic 1919 String Quartet, Kreisler said, “is my gift to Vienna.” Drawn from our Fritz Kreisler Collection—another guest artist, his incomparable Guarneri del Gesù violin.
