Outreach Initiatives
For over 20 years, Cygnus has been devoted to promoting understanding and appreciation of significant new American music of all styles and persuasions.
In the duration, Cygnus matured from an ensemble of promising young musicians, to an one of seasoned, experienced professionals. As such there emerged a sense of responsibility offer young, emerging musicians and composers opportunities for professional advancement. Moreover, Cygnus recognizes that young, emerging artists are an invaluable resource for carrying out Cygnus' mission.

Past Projects
Since 2000, Cygnus has given residencies with colleges and universities, including at Temple University, Sarah Lawrence College and the City University of New York, working with young composers.
Since 2005, Cygnus has helped to form guitar ensembles consisting of musicians of all ages and abilities from ages 15 and up, and from all over the New York City metropolitan area.
Collaboration with the guitar ensemble has proven an extraordinarily effective means of expanding the Cygnus audience, and on March 8, 2008 Cygnus sold out Weill Hall for a concert that included a work perfored by the guitar ensemble.

Upcoming Projects
--developing performance and educational opportunities for activities for guitarists at guitar festivals in the U.S. and abroad.This involves finding funding for young musicians to travel to guitar festivals where week-long courses are offered, competitions, and performance opportunities.
--Performance at Weill Hall of David Loeb's Concerto for two guitars and guitar ensemble, with the Cygnus guitarists as soloists.
